Can you take us through a day in your life at Beulah?

Most of my time is spent working with project teams on our live projects and preparing upcoming projects. I am lucky enough to work across all project teams and all departments at Beulah, so for that reason I love working in the office environment – I come into the office every day. I still love in-person collaboration, mentoring and the spontaneous ideas that come from being in the same workspace. Something I’m really excited about is Beulah’s new office in Southbank – it’s been custom designed by UNStudio and Cox Architecture to respond to the new era of collaborative and flexible working styles. It is an invigorating and inspiring experience to come into our office!

Can you share some key highlights that make your day stand out?

We have a strong culture of collaborating across teams and departments on new ideas and problem solving. Our team is incredibly tech savvy which enables us to implement the latest technology and collaboration tools to define a challenge and work together on a solution. We also utilise smart screens, virtual whiteboards, video-conferencing, cloud computing and task-based communication platforms on a hourly basis, not just daily.

What drives or motivates you in your role at Beulah? Anything you’re particularly excited about currently?

Our STH BNK By Beulah project is my main focus, currently. We have an incredible international team of world-class consultants. Our design and engineering meetings are inspiring the way we deliver the vision of these incredible towers in Melbourne.

We love your out-of-the-box thinking, innovative and creative ideas! What inspires you?

We are constantly pursuing new knowledge and experiences to ensure the spaces and experiences we create are the best they can possibly be. We all share articles and inspirational case studies with each other online; but that can’t compare with experiencing the newest and best materials, buildings, spaces and design in real life – something we’re lucky enough to do at Beulah.

We consciously take time every week to visit projects, construction sites, events and suppliers to ensure we have a current knowledge base of the best design happening right now. When people are demonstrating inspiring design outside of Melbourne, we travel around Australia or internationally to engage with those spaces or experiences – I’m looking forward to being able to do that again! We travelled to six leading global cities with the STH BNK By Beulah architecture team to learn and establish a shared design vocabulary at the very start of the project.

These learning experiences have been a highlight during my time at Beulah.

How do you stay inspired?

We have an incredible team of talented, hard working, creative and pioneering people at Beulah. Our philosophy is to continuously learn from our shared experiences and evolve our standards, our work and our practices. To do so, Beulah has in-house teams and capabilities in design, architecture, marketing, social media, planning, development management, project management, sales and end-user relationships. My ongoing inspiration comes from spending time and collaborating with all our different teams; I am genuinely surprised and impressed on a weekly basis by the quality, innovation and success of the work produced by the Beulah team! Our BETA event series which commenced in late 2021 featuring an immersive muti-sensory dining experience is a great example of the incredible, transformative nature of our work.

What are your top three tips you can share that you’ve learnt from being a Senior Development Manager at Beulah?

1. Never accept the standard approach if hard work, creativity and innovation can improve an outcome.
2. Incredible ideas can come from all areas of the company, even from people in a completely unrelated department
3. Quality will always prevail. Whether it is design, construction or communication – Beulah’s greatest success comes from delivering outstanding quality.
