Meet our Accountant + Executive Assistant

With an intuitive and resourceful nature, May Jet, Beulah’s Accountant and Executive Assistant to Managing Director Jiaheng Chan, has an innate ability to complete tasks before being asked. Her high attention to detail, agility and financial knowledge, ensures the smooth and effective administration of the executive office.

In her multifaceted role, May Jet works with all members of the team to ensure that Beulah runs like a well oiled machine. From scheduling meetings to organising company celebrations, no two days are the same.

Outside of work, she enjoys the thrill of extreme sports as well as keeping active playing badminton. She is also a culture-fiend, heading to the theatre and indulging in Melbourne’s finest culinary experiences at every chance she gets!

Take us through a day in your life at Beulah!

Where do I even begin…? My day in Beulah is like riding a rollercoaster of productivity and excitement! It can range from the routine – checking of emails, calendar scheduling, to the urgent, such as last minute travel arrangements and working on payroll. The day usually starts with checking Whatsapp for any urgent messages that may have come through overnight, or any last-minute meetings needing to be set (you never know, the Beulah world can change overnight!) I sit with the MD every morning to identify key priorities, and basically am there ready to assist with anything he needs! At Beulah, everyday is a new adventure, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Can you share some key highlights that makes your day stand out?

One of the best parts of my day at Beulah is the impromptu surprises that pop up! My favourite has to be when the team brings in yummy baked goods—shout out to Rach’s mum-in-law’s scones, which are to die for! A fun tradition we have at Beulah is when team members travel overseas, they always bring back snacks to share, giving us a delicious glimpse of different cultures. It seems like the highlights for me are all centred around food, but these moments of shared joy and camaraderie are what make working at Beulah so special.

Another highlight is our monthly company meetings, where the entire team comes together to get updates on projects and market developments. These meetings are not just about business, they are also a time to celebrate birthdays, Beulahversaries, welcome new staff etc. This tradition fosters a very fun and inclusive culture, making everyone feel valued and connected.

What drives/motivates your role at Beulah?

As an EA, the nature of the role is dynamic and ever-changing. Everyday presents new challenges and opportunities, keeping me on my toes and constantly learning. The thrill of anticipating needs, solving problems on the fly, and ensuring everything runs smoothly for the MD and the team is incredibly fulfilling. On top of that, the supportive and collaborative culture at Beulah are huge motivators. Being part of a team that values collaboration, celebrates successes and shares those impromptu moments of joy – like enjoying scones or overseas snacks – makes my role not just a job, but a truly rewarding experience.

What truly inspires me at Beulah are the people, the work and our shared mission. The quote on the wall in our office, “Everything is impossible until somebody does it”, perfectly captures our spirit. The team is amazing – passionate, forward-thinking and always pushing boundaries, which keeps me energised and creative. The work is never dull, with new challenges every day that make each day exciting and rewarding. Plus, knowing that what we do makes a real difference gives everything we do a deeper meaning. Being part of such a dynamic and purpose-driven team is what inspires me to bring my best every day.

How do you stay inspired?

I personally surround myself with people who build me up, both personally and professionally. A mentor and friend once taught me to cultivate a mindset of abundance, which allowed me to see endless opportunities and possibilities in all areas of my life. It encourages me to think creatively, push boundaries and embrace challenges as chances to grow and innovate.

What are your top 3 tips you can share that you’ve learnt from being an Accountant + EA to MD at Beulah

Plan, Plan, Plan – You can never over-plan. Thorough planning sets a solid foundation and prepares you for the day ahead, helping to manage tasks efficiently and reduce last-minute stress
Be flexible – Yes, you can plan all you want, but also be ready to be flexible. Be prepared for unexpected changes and adapt quickly. The ability to pivot and handle surprises effectively is key in a fast-paced environment like Beulah
Maintain Good Relationships – Building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders is essential. Good relationships foster collaboration, open communication, and a positive work environment, making it easier to navigate challenges and achieve goals together.
