BETA By STH BNK joins Melbourne Design Week as a proud participant, hosting and running a number of activities that will allow participants to visualise the future of retail and hospitality. This year’s theme, ‘Design the World You Want’ focuses on the importance of human ingenuity and experimentation. From exhibitions to experiencing the future supermarket there’s so much to see and learn.

WORKSHOP 01
18 – 28 May

WORKSHOP 01 is an exhibition-as-provocation. Showcasing new work by eleven emerging designers with wildly diverse outlooks, under the curatorial direction of Julian Leigh May, Tess Pirrie, and Ella Saddington, they are united by a desire to push boundaries beyond the aesthetically consensual.

Enter The Future From Waste Lab, a disruptive, experimental fashion and retail space that turns textile waste into want through washing, dyeing, cutting, sewing and selling. Facilitated by BETA By STH BNK, and creative directed by KITX, the Lab works with iconic labels with a sustainable focus to create small runs of garments and accessories entirely from waste.

Circular Basket weaving workshop

Come spend a relaxing afternoon immersed in making colourful sculptural forms from post-consumer materials. Created from largely recycled and reclaimed materials, Sienna Barton will teach participants how to make a small coiled basket using her lovingly curated colour palette.
