Material Matters Exhibition

26 – 27 OCTOBER, 12PM – 11PM

In a world that is ceaselessly evolving, it’s easy to overlook the foundation of our everyday experiences: the materials that make up our lived reality. The “Material Matters” exhibition, hosted by BETA By STH BNK as part of the Craft Contemporary Satellite program, delves profoundly into this material culture.

The Material Matters Exhibition offers a contemplative reflection on the substrates that form the foundation of the world around us and the future we face. This exhibition underscores the immense responsibility that design professionals bear in shaping our tangible realities and emphasises their crucial role in sustaining and refining future retail spaces.

Some of Australia’s most renowned architectural studios, artisans and designers will come together to explore the pivotal role minerals and materials play in design and the impact of mindful creation; offering a contemplative reflection on the substrates that form the foundation of the world around us, and the future ahead of us.

Through innovative displays at Hanover House in Southbank, visitors will gain profound insights into the union of artistry and sustainability, fostering a deeper appreciation of mindful creation in the realms of architecture, craft and product design.

The exhibition forms part of Craft Contemporary, an annual gathering of craft-inspired events, projects, exhibitions and more throughout Victoria and beyond across the month of October. Craft Contemporary creates a platform for those in and around Victoria to interact with craft and design in imaginative and new ways
