Director at Sibling Architecture, Timothy Moore drives the company’s research arm, while contributing to the delivery of architectural projects, including Sibling’s award-winning retail, commercial and cultural projects.

Sibling Architecture created the ingenious fit-out and spatial design for BETA By STH BNK, emphasising sustainability and circularity by repurposing existing material and objects within the building wherever possible. They were given free reign to experiment with physical space, programming and business models via an experimental taxonomy that offers a preview of the future of retail within the pioneering STH BNK By Beulah development.

This broad approach to understanding the potential of architecture has been underpinned by Timothy’s roles working as an editor for influential architectural publications Volume, Architecture Australia and Future West, and as part of the curatorial team of Melbourne Design Week.

High-energy Mexico City is a cultural mecca with some of the best architecture and cuisine in the world. Each visit reveals another layer to the complex city, which draws me back again and again.

Colours of Mexico City

Finally, do you have any tips, tricks or advice when travelling to Mexico City?

At least one of over 55 First Nations languages are spoken by one million people in Mexico City. Take any opportunity to learn about the ancient and living cultures of the city and its surrounds: start at La Merced Market, or visit a local market like Mercado San Gregorio Atlapulco via the metro (outside of peak hour) and taste the street food – as obviously, food is a great way to connect with people.

About Timothy Moore

As Founder, Timothy Moore oversees Sibling’s design-research practice. He has been involved in the conceptualisation of Sibling’s exhibitions at the National Gallery of Victoria, Istanbul Design Biennial, Gyeonggi MoMA, Seoul National University, and assist with foresight, strategic design, architectural briefs and works for leading commercial and cultural institutions and organisations, including Creative Victoria, FJM Property, City of Melbourne and VICE.

Timothy has been pivotal in the materialisation of the exhibition New Agency: Owning your housing future, which is a long-term project by Sibling that examines the futures of dwelling through the lens of an ageing population.

He is also widely published in architectural magazines, journals and books, and speaks widely at events and in the media. He is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Monash University.
